TheMyanmarearthquake(Mw7.7)thatoccurredonMarch28,2025,originatedfromtheSagaingFault,whichextendsover400kminlength.UsingSentinel-1andSentinel-2satelliteimagery,wecreatedinterferogramsbeforeandaftertheearthquakebycombiningthepixel-offsettrackingwithinterferometricSARanalysis(Figure(a)).Thisenabledestimationofgrounddisplacementfromdirectlyabovethefaulttothesurroundingwidearea,revealingaheterogeneousdisplacementpatternalongtheSagaingFault(Figures(b),(c),(d)).
Themaximumhorizontaldisplacementalongthemainfaultreachedapproximately6m,whilethemaximumverticaldisplacementwasabout1m.Inaddition,minordisplacementsoflessthan10cmweredetectedindistalareasawayfromthemainruptureandnearthefaulttermini.Theseremote-sensinganalysesprovideimportantfoundationaldataforunderstandingthedeformationcharacteristicsoftheextensivestrike-slipfaultsystemdevelopedneartheplateboundary.
