Land Seismic Survey System
In recent years, there has been a growing demand for seismic data acquisition systems capable of handling several thousand channels, which in tern requires the handling and processing of large volumes of data. JGI owns land seismic data acquisition systems such as the SERCEL 428XL and has implemented systems for deploying high-channel-count field units across survey areas. These data acquisition systems consist of the following equipment.
- ① Geophone (velocity sensors), MEMS accelerometers, etc.
- ② Data acquisition system – converts analog signals from sensors to digital data and transmits them in near real-time to the central recording system installed in a recording truck.
- ③ Battery units
- ④ The recording truck centrally manages the large volumes of multichannel data transmitted from the field units, and provides data display and storage as needed. It also monitors the status of the sensors, data acquisition units, and battery units, and controls data acquisition parameters.
Cable system (refer to conceptual diagram of cable system).
- ① Analog geophone (velocity sensors) , etc.
- ② Data acquisition system – converts analog signals from sensors to digital data and stores in recording media. The data at each receiver point are retrieved on-site as appropriate, then merged and verified for each survey line.
- ③ GPS unit – used for GPS absolute time synchronization among multiple cable-free systems, integrated inside the enclosure of above-mentioned system.
- ④ Battery unit
Cable-free system (refer to the conceptual diagram)
JGI owns approximately 5,000 channels of land data acquisition systems and conducts 2D/3D seismic surveys using cable and cable-free systems depending on terrain and environmental conditions.
